Lead and Develop an Asset Based Lending Practice

Are you an experienced asset based lending lawyer looking for an exciting opportunity to join a growing team? Our client, a well-established and highly regarded commercial law firm with offices in Liverpool and Manchester, is seeking a Senior Asset Based Lending Lawyer at 5+ PQE level to join their expanding finance team.

The Role

As a Senior Asset Based Lending Lawyer, you will manage your own caseload of asset based lending transactions, acting primarily for lenders and financial institutions. You'll handle a diverse range of ABL facilities including invoice finance, receivables finance, and inventory finance, working on both new facilities and portfolio management matters.

The role offers genuine progression opportunities and the chance to work with established finance clients whilst also contributing to business development. You'll have the autonomy to run your matters whilst also providing supervision and guidance to junior team members.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of asset based lending transactions from instruction through to completion
  • Advising lenders and financial institutions on ABL facilities, invoice finance, and receivables finance
  • Drafting and negotiating facility agreements, security documents, and intercreditor arrangements
  • Conducting due diligence, reviewing security packages, and advising on perfection of security
  • Advising on invoice finance, receivables finance, inventory finance, and stock finance facilities
  • Handling refinancing transactions and portfolio management matters
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with finance clients
  • Contributing to business development and the growth of the ABL practice
  • Providing commercially focused and pragmatic advice to clients
  • Supervising and mentoring junior solicitors and paralegals
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the finance and creditor services teams
  • Meeting financial targets and managing matters profitably

 

About You

Essential Requirements:

  • 5+ years' PQE experience in asset based lending, invoice finance, or receivables finance
  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales
  • Proven experience advising lenders on ABL facilities and security arrangements
  • Strong technical knowledge of asset based lending, invoice finance, and security documentation
  • Experience drafting and negotiating facility agreements, debentures, and security documents
  • Excellent understanding of security perfection, registration requirements, and intercreditor arrangements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously
  • Excellent client care skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Commercially focused with a pragmatic approach to transactions
  • Strong communication, drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience acting for asset finance lenders, invoice finance providers, or challenger banks
  • Knowledge of insolvency and enforcement procedures
  • Experience with complex or high-value ABL facilities
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience
  • Business development experience and existing client relationships
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment
