Senior Director, Senior Leader Development – The BNY Hamilton Institute

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Director, Senior Leader Development to join the Hamilton Institute, part of our Enablement and Global Affairs organization. This role is located in New York, NY.

The Institute focuses on driving very tailored development for the company's senior leaders, in the context of BNY's culture, strategic pillars and principles. In addition, it guides BNY's approach towards building financial knowledge through structured programs for both our employees in support financial decision making, and to support the financial resilience of our broader communities.   

This role plays a critical role to ensure a strong, future-ready senior leadership bench and will focus primarily on developing and curating programs for senior leader populations, all of which is requires a close partnership with the People Talent and Development Team and leverages the enterprise talent strategies and frameworks. This is a visible and strategic role with regular exposure to executive management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Design & Curriculum Development
    • Create/curate developmental experiences, leveraging blended in-person workshops, virtual cohorts, action-learning projects, coaching and self-paced digital modules leveraging the BNY leadership framework.
    • Track participation, feedback, and outcomes to measure impact and identify improvement opportunities.
       
  • Delivery, Facilitation & Coaching
    • Lead the delivery of flagship sessions – serve as facilitator, partner with internal faculty and/or partner with external premier faculty and institutions.
    • Provide relevant pre and post Institute program support (i.e. intake assessments, live-360 stakeholder interviews, various checkpoints).
    • Help solution specific development needs in partnership with the Talent team as it relates to specific senior level cohorts.
       
  • External Partnerships & Vendor Management
    • Identify, vet and manage with premier executive-education providers, assessment firms, and executive-coaching practices.
    • Maintain a catalogue of turnkey offerings and custom-build options, ensuring alignment to BNY’s pillars, principles and enterprise talent framework.
    • Partner with procurement, legal and finance to streamline contracts, track spend, manage budget, own SLAs and measure ROI on all Institute external engagements.
       
  • Partnership and Advisory
    • Collaborate and partner closely with the People Team (Talent, Learning & Development) to work with stakeholders to seamlessly transition participants in and out of the Institute for development and capability building. 
    • Stay current on industry trends, emerging tools, future-focused consultants and best practices in senior leader development.
    • Chair periodic meetings to present outcomes, gather feedback, and with the talent team prioritize next-gen offerings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Talent Management, Leadership Development, HR Business Partner roles or similar field
  • Proven experience advising and coaching senior leaders; and a strong facilitation background
  • Deep knowledge of leadership development methodologies, assessment tools, and organizational strategy
  • Strong data fluency – able to translate talent analytics into actionable business recommendations
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and project-management skills
  • Experience in a global, matrixed organization with multiple lines of business

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $250,000 and $275,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
