Glimpse of the Job and Your Opportunity to Contribute  

Texas A&M University is hiring a Senior IT Professional to join the Architecture and Engineering department. This role will serve as a senior resource, applying expertise in virtualization, containerization, Kubernetes, and library specific complex data systems.  Specific experience with Folio and/or other library systems is preferred.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • 8 years of related information technology experience  

A well-qualified candidate should possess one or more of the following: 

  •  Experience working with Linux operating systems and directory services such as OpenLDAP, as well as experience with Microsoft Active Directory/Entra.
  • Experience in virtualization, storage, backup systems, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience deploying applications and systems in public cloud environments (Google, Azure, AWS).
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD processes, using platforms like GitHub or GitLab.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Container orchestration.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Node.js, HCL, Terraform.
  • Experience supporting client interactions and gathering requirements to ensure effective solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with partners and contributing to solution integration efforts that enhance operational efficiency
  • Practical experience with automation technologies such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Experience writing and consuming REST APIs and cloud web services like Azure, AWS and GCP

  • Familiarity with strategic thinking, planning skills, and project portfolio management.
  • Basic understanding of IT industry trends, security regulations, and emerging IT issues.
  • Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM frameworks and understanding of context/interrelationships in project management.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and theory, including TCP/IP and OSI layers, with a basic understanding of load balancing.
  • Solid knowledge of databases, particularly BigQuery, MySQL, and MS-SQL.

What you need to know 

Salary: Up to $80,000 commensurate with education and experience 
Location: In-person role in College Station, Texas 

Schedule: This role may require working outside of standard office hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support the demands of technology services and ensure the seamless operation of essential systems.  

Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted asylum or refugee status in accordance with 15 CFR, Part 762; 22 CFR §§122.5, 123.22 and 123.26; and 31 CFR § 501.601
