Senior Safeguarding Practitioner - 37.5 hours per week full time
Band 7, £47,810 - £54,710 per annum 12 months fixed term
You will have a key role in promoting good professional practice across all elements of the safeguarding agenda under the guidance of the Head of Safeguarding. You will take the lead in providing supervision, training, specialist advice and support related to safeguarding adults, safeguarding children, Prevent and domestic abuse. You will contribute to developing the skills of the frontline practitioners, particularly in relation to assessment of safeguarding risk, immediate interventions, partnership working and report writing.
· Hold a current professional registration e.g. Registered General Nurse, Registered Midwife, District Nurse, Mental Health Nurse, Practice Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse, Registered Allied Health Professional
· Have experience within the last two years of working directly in multi-agency child safeguarding and/or adult safeguarding processes.
· Theoretical and practical knowledge across the range of procedures and practices in the field of safeguarding enabling the post holder to provide specialist safeguarding advice to managers, professionals and colleagues.
· Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills are essential to ensure the appropriate representation of North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust in public arenas, including court and case conferencing reporting.
· The ability to represent North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust Safeguarding Team in external safeguarding meetings as appropriate.

Help to inspire the development of a culture of safeguarding within North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust. This will include but is not limited to robust systems, policies, partnership working and training relating to the safeguarding portfolio.
· Facilitate safeguarding supervision for clinical teams across North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust. As part of this supervision monitor and assess the impact of safeguarding work on individual practitioners/caseloads and escalate where appropriate.
· Work autonomously, organising and planning own work to meet the needs of the service.
· Under the direction of the Head of Safeguarding the post holder will be responsible for the management of the sharing of confidential, sensitive information with partner agencies in relation to safeguarding, particularly child safeguarding assessments.
· Work collaboratively with other members of the Safeguarding Team, to ensure roles develop and complement each other and appropriate cover is provided at all times.
· Under the guidance of the Head of Safeguarding, the post holder will take the lead in providing safeguarding supervision, specialist advice and support related to safeguarding across the Trust.
· Attend multi-agency case conferences, strategy discussions and other safeguarding/protection meetings, as agreed with the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Adults.
· Support the delivery of safeguarding training as per training strategy.
· Where appropriate, deputise for the Head of Safeguarding.
· Assist in the monitoring of quality developments/audits, as part of a clinical governance and quality assurance framework for Safeguarding, through which evidence-based practice and policies/procedures are continuously monitored and improved.
